About us

We named Split Rock Distillery for a dirt road we travel often—the shortcut between our two homes. It’s the only shortcut we’ve ever taken to bring you Maine’s first organic spirits. When we founded Split Rock, we promised ourselves we would handcraft our spirits the right way. That meant the long way: authentic, small batch grain to glass, selling no spirit not our own. We spent evenings and weekends building a distillery and tasting room by hand in an old barn on historic Route One. We sourced organic grains and fruits from the fields of farmers we count as friends. We demanded organic sugars and drew waters so pure locals still harvest winter ice. We refined our fermentations again and again to showcase the unique signatures of our still. And through it all, we gathered knowledge, inspiration, a helping hand and an honest opinion from other distillers, family and friends, and every stranger fairly met. There is a real split rock on Split Rock Road and we still drive past it almost every day—a rough plug of granite, cracked open long ago by time or skill (or a little of both) to reveal an unexpected smoothness within. Blueberry Sour
1.5 oz Split Rock Blueberry Vodka
¾ oz St. Elders
¾ oz lemon juice
Few dashes Maine Root Flower Bitters
1 oz egg white
Shake gently without ice to mix egg
Add ice shake again
Strain into rocks glass over ice

Blueberry Smash
2 Lemon rounds
2 Lime rounds
3-6 Blueberries
2 mint leaves
2.5 oz SRD Blueberry Vodka
1 oz Elderflower Liqueur
Muddle add SRD blueberry Vodka and shake, strain top with club soda

Blue Julep
2 oz Split Rock Blueberry Vodka
4-6 Mint Leaves
1 Barspoon powdered sugar
Muddle mint & sugar add SRD blueberry Vodka and shake, strain and garnish with a sprig of mint

Hot Rock In The Summer Time
2 oz Split Rock Blueberry Vodka
4-10 oz Lemonade
Stir or Shake add Ice

Rock and Stormy
2.5 oz Split Rock Blueberry Vodka
3/4 oz lime juice
Top with Ginger Beer
Stir
Garnish with blueberries and lime

Blueberry Spritzer
2 oz Split Rock Blueberry Vodka
¾ oz lemon juice
¾ oz simple syrup (try rosemary infused)
Sprig of rosemary
Muddle everything except vodka
Add Ice & Stir
Top with soda water

SRD Cosmo
2 oz Split Rock Blueberry Vodka
1 oz Cranberry Juice
½ oz Cointeau (or Aperol)
½ oz Lime Juice
Shaken w/ Ice
Pour Over Ice
Garnish with Lime

Blueberry Bistro
2 oz Split Rock Blueberry Vodka
1 Rothman & Winter Orchard Apricot Liqueur
3/4 oz lemon juice
Stir with ice and strain
Garnish with a lemon twist

Blueberry Blood Orange
2 oz Split Rock Blueberry Vodka
2 oz Alta Palla Sparkling Blood Orange
1/4-1/2 oz Royal Rose Natural Demerara Cocktail Syrup

Split Rock Horseradish Vodka Cocktails

Red Barn
1.5 oz of Split Rock Distilling Horseradish Vodka
¾ oz unsweetened cranberry juice
¾ oz honey syrup (1 part honey, 1 part water)
Shake until shaker frosts up

Horseradish Basil
2 oz Split Rock Horseradish Vodka
¾ oz simple syrup
¾ oz lemon juice
Basil (6 leaves)
Cucumber (⅓ of a cucumber, 2 tbsp)
Chill glass
Muddle all ingredients, Shake with ice, Strain twice

Split Rock Vodka Cocktails

Pear Rocket Maker
2 oz Split Rock Vodka
Muddled Pear Slice
1/2 oz ginger syrup
1/2 oz lemon juice
 

Spiced Apple Martini
1 ½ oz Split Rock Vodka
2 oz Apple Cider
¼ oz Lime Juice
¼ oz Maple Syrup
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
Shake
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
Chill glass and dip rim in cinnamon & sugar

Vodka Citrus Mint
2 oz Split Rock Vodka
¾ oz Apari
¼ oz grapefruit juice
½ oz simple syrup
½ oz lime
Shake until frosty
Simple wedge garnish lime

SRD Mule
2 oz Split Rock Vodka
½ oz Lime Juice
4+ oz Ginger Beer
Pour Lime Juice into a glass
Add Ice
Add Vodka
Fill with Ginger Beer
Slight Stir
Serve garnished with a wedge of Lime and a Stirring Rod

Split Rock White Whiskey Cocktails

Honey Whiskey Lime
2 oz Split Rock White Whiskey
¾ oz Lime Juice
¾ oz Honey Syrup (1 part honey, 1 part water)
Shake until shaker frosts up

White Daisy
2 oz Split Rock White Whiskey
½ oz Raspberry Syrup
½ oz Lemon Juice
½ oz Almond Milk
Shake until shaker frosts up

Whiskey Negroni
Split Rock White Whiskey
Campari
Sweet Vermouth
Even Parts, stir until frosted, lemon twist

White Whiskey “Tart”
1 ½ oz Split Rock White Whiskey
½ oz St Elder
¼ oz Campari
½ Lemon juice or fresh squeezed orange
Few dashes of Angostura bitters
Shake till frosty

Ginger Beer and White Whiskey
2 oz Split Rock White Whiskey
4-8 oz Ginger Beer
(Maine Root Ginger Brew and Fever Tree Ginger Beer are our Favorites)
Pour over Ice
Top with Ginger Beer & Stir
Garnish with a lime

SRD Julip
2 oz Split Rock White Whiskey
1 oz Simple Syrup
A sprig or two of mint
Muddle all ingredients
Fill Glass with crushed ice
Stir well and garnish with mint sprig

SRD Whiskey Sour
2 oz Split Rock White Whiskey
1 oz Egg White
1 oz Simple Syrup
¾ oz Lemon Juice
½ oz Lime Juice
Shake all without Ice (build froth)
Add Ice and shake till frosty

White Whiskey Pineapple
2 oz Split Rock White Whiskey
1 oz Pineapple Juice
½ oz Grapefruit
½ oz Lime Juice
¼ oz Luxardo
Shaken w/ Ice
Pour Over Ice
Garnish with a Lime

Split Rock Bourbon Cocktails

Bourbon Apple Cider
1.5 oz Split Rock Bourbon
3 oz Apple Cider
Splash of Lemon Juice
Muddled ginger w/ cinnamon sugar rimmed glass
 

Ginger Split
2 oz Split Rock Bourbon
¾ oz Lemon Juice
½ oz Ginger Syrup
1 Egg White
Combine all ingredients and shake gently without ice to mix egg
Add ice shake again
Strain into rocks glass over ice

Bourbon Spicy Old Fashioned
2 oz Split Rock Bourbon
¾ oz Pepper infused simple syrup (poblano, chili, or chipotle)
3 dashes of black walnut bitters
Muddled orange
Stir
Garnish with a twist of orange

Manhattan
2 oz Split Rock Bourbon
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
⅛ oz Luxardo
Few dashes Angostura Bitters
Stir it, Bond was wrong!

G & T
2 oz Split Rock Gin
2-4 oz Hansen's Natural Cane Soda Tonic

Gin Basil Smash
2 oz Split Rock Gin
½ a fresh squeezed lemon
¼ oz Simple Syrup
5 basil leaves muddled
shaken w/ Ice & strained

Gin South Side
2 oz Split Rock Gin
1 oz Simple Syrup
1 oz Lemon Juice 

Corpse Reviver

3/4 oz Split Rock Gin
3/4 oz Dry Curaçao
3/4 oz of Cocchi Americano
3/4 oz of Lemon Juice
Tree Spirits Absinthe

Spray/rinse a coupe or martini

glass with absinth. Add all ingredients
to a shaker & shake. Strain into glass.

Barrel Rested Gin and Maple Syrup
2oz Barrel Rested Gin
3-4 Dashes Coffee Bitters
3/4 oz Bourbon Barrel Rested Maple Syrup
